| Steve Asmussen has the pedigree to be a leading trainer, and like the best bred horses, has fulfilled the promise of his championship blood. His parents, Keith and Marilyn Asmussen, break some of the best Thoroughbreds in the world at their Laredo, Texas, training center, and his brother, Cash Asmussen, was the leading jockey in Europe for many years before returning to the United States to begin a bloodstock agency.
Steve Asmussen had another banner year in 2005, and remains at the top of all trainer statistical lists. He is known for his ability to place a horse in a race in which it can win, and for his easy-going, low key manner. He is a young trainer who will be around and at the top of the trainer stats for decades to come.
