2003 Breeders' Cup Sprint-G1 hero and millionaire CAJUN BEAT has been retired due to an injury to the suspensory ligament in his left hind leg, sustained in his last race, the Commonwealth Breeders' Cup H.-G2. Owned by Padua Stables and John and Joseph Iracane during his illustrious career, the gelding earned $1,159,100, started 19 times, and boasted seven wins and three seconds. A multiple graded stakes winner, the five year old gelding was by GONE WEST's great son GRAND SLAM, out of the CURE THE BLUES mare BECKY'S SHIRT. Trainer Bobby Frankel reported that the injury had been stabilized, and that CAJUN BEAT was doing well.
